Arts Call For Darfur is an ongoing project aimed at raising money both for Darfur and for the arts in Wales. Some of Wales¹s finest artists have come together and donated original pieces of their art to the project and exhibition.
Following on from the successful launch of the project the exhibition will be touring Sudan during April with artists from Wales visiting Darfur.
The exhibition moves to the Pierhead Building this May, where we will be displaying the original pieces and selling limited edition signed prints of the work to raise funds for Darfur. Businesses will also have the opportunity to commission an artist of their choice to produce original art work, again to produce funds for the charity work. The exhibition
continues at the Pierhead Building until 1st June 2008.
Save The Children are ensuring that funds are put to good use for the long term development of aid to the region hard hit by decades of civil war.
The project is also continuing to create a unique artistic environment by ensuring that funds raised are also benefiting the development of arts
projects in Wales and the Sudan

PRESS RELEASE
ARTS PROJECT FOR DARFUR VISITS SENEDD
The ‘Arts Call for Darfur’ project will visit the National Assembly of Wales Senedd building on Tuesday, 6 May, before moving to the Pierhead Building until the end of the month.
The ongoing project, created in partnership with Save the Children, aims at raising money both for the charity’s humanitarian relief work in Darfur and for the arts in Wales .
It was created earlier this year when a group of individuals in Wales , concerned about the continuing crisis in Darfur , came together with the aim of making a difference. The group also wanted to showcase and support the efforts of Sudanese and local Welsh artists
As a result of its early success, a group of Welsh artists have just returned from Sudan after launching a touring exhibition of Arts Call for Darfur in the National Museum in Khartoum . The artists worked with local Sudanese artists and community groups to encourage greater awareness of the continuing problems in the area as well as travelling around Sudan to see the situation first hand.
On Tuesday 5 May, Lorraine Barrett Assembly Member for Cardiff South and Penarth, will host the reception at the Senedd in the public gallery at 5.30pm with everyone welcome.
The project will then be exhibited in the Pierhead building next to the Senedd between 7 May and 1 June, 2008, where the original pieces will be displayed and there will be an opportunity to buy limited edition signed prints. Businesses will also have the opportunity to commission an artist of their choice to produce original art work.
